Dallas Frasca
Sound Painter
Spank Betty Records
Dallas Frasca,
along with phenomenal guitar foil Jeff Curran and new drummer Pete McDonald,
has, with the release of second full-length album Sound Painter, returned to her roots. Gone is the over-produced polish of debut LP Not For Love Or Money, in its place a
punk/metal-stained, blues/rock-fuelled, slap-in-the-face of a record, the likes
of which brought her to notice some five years ago.
Having said that,
it’s the evolution from said roots that marks Frasca as a force to be reckoned
with. The incessant riffage on tracks like Hey
Mama and Birds Of Wisdom herald a
harder edge. Lyrically, Frasca is older and wiser and the record as a whole
carries more scope than we’ve seen from her in the past. A perfect mix of scintillating old, and
exciting new.
