Americana-infused Australian troubadour Jordie Lane, has recently recorded and released his second long-player, Blood Thinner (July 15th through Vitamin Records). I recently spent the day with him near Byron Bay, interviewing him for an upcoming cover feature for Rhythms Magazine (August). We sat in the pub for almost three hours talking, then drove up into the hills where he was shooting a film clip - I was enlisted to be a boom operator, it being a small operation. Whilst the crew set up, and as we slowly but surely began to lose the light, I took a few pictures and recorded Lane playing a song from the record, 'Annabelle Marie', on my phone - hardly broadcast quality, but a moment in time none the less. All are featured here, for interest's sake. Lane was in pretty good spirits during both the interview and the film shoot, which is hardly surprising if you've had the good fortune of hearing the new record. It's the mark of a musician on the up and up, a solid album indeed, and one certainly conducive to being in high spirits. An excerpt of the cover feature, once it's been written and published, will be posted here around mid-August. Thanks to Jordie for permission to post these images and film.
Blood Thinner is available now through Vitamin Records.
